What does Algenist Liquid Collagen do?

The Algenist GENIUS Liquid Collagen is a lightweight collagen serum that builds your skin’s elasticity and firmness, and diminishes fine lines and wrinkles. It can be used on any skin type.

Does Algenist Liquid Collagen work?

According to Sephora, in an assessment of 85 women 91% said it restored bounce, resilience, and suppleness to the skin after 10 days, 94% said it deeply replenishes and helps condition skin after 10 days, and 90% said it helps strengthen skin matrix to restore lost bounce and elasticity after 28 days.

What ingredients are in the Algenist GENIUS liquid collagen?

While Algenist GENIUS Liquid Collagen is not considered a clean beauty product, it is certified as vegan. The vegan collagen used in this beauty product is a combination of corn, soy and wheat protein amino acids.

The other key ingredients highlighted on Sephora are Alguronic Acid which is sourced from algae used to minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and microalgae oil which hydrates and restores the skin.

Where can you buy it?

The Algenist Genius Liquid Collagen is sold exclusively on Sephora.com and Algenist.com.

I prefer shopping at Sephora.com to earn reward points and they have a generous return policy in case the product doesn’t agree with your skin.

Is Algenist Liquid Collagen worth the cost?

The Algenist Genius Liquid Collagen comes in three sizes and price points.

Mini Size: The mini size is 0.21oz / 6.2mL for $25. I a great option of you want to try out this product before committing to a more expensive size.

Standard Size: The standard size is 1oz / 30mL for $115. If you are planning to buy the standard size, check out the Algenist Collagen Kit.

For the same price of a full standard size Liquid Collagen, also includes the GENIUS Liquid Collagen Hand Cream (full size) and a mini Genius Sleeping Collagen. It’s a kit valued at $178 for only $115, the price of just the standard size Liquid Collagen.

Value Size: The value size is 2oz / 60mL for $135. The value size is valued at $230, so this is the best deal!

Because I only use a small amount each night, the value size usually lasts me around 6 months, so I’m only spending about $270 per year for plumper and firmer skin which I think is totally worth the cost.

My Algenist GENIUS Liquid Collagen Review

My Skin Type

I have normal to sensitive skin, with some fine lines on my forehead and deeper lines around my mouth. I also have several dark spots from sun exposure. After 14 days, I definitely saw plumper and firmer skin, and less noticeable fine lines on my forehead.  I did not see any difference in my deeper smile lines or dark spots, but wasn’t expecting to.  I use the Algenist GENIUS Liquid Collagen to maintain the firmness and elasticity of my skin, and think that is what it is best used for.

How I use Algenist GENIUS Liquid Collagen in my routine

After washing my face with Fenty Skin Total Cleans’r Remove-It-All Cleanser or Ole Henriksen Truth Juice Daily Cleanser, I use Ole Henriksen Glow2OH Dark Spot Toner. I pat The Ordinary Buffet + Copper Peptides 1% all over my face and neck and let it sink in.

Then, I follow with the Algenist GENIUS Liquid Collagen to my face and neck by gently patting it into my skin, focusing on my forehead and neck where I have the most fine lines and wrinkles. I wait a few minutes for the collagen serum to sink into my skin.

Then, I layer Belif True Cream Moisturizing Bomb all over my face, StriVectin TL Advanced Tightening Neck Cream on my neck, and Belif Moisturizing Eye Bomb around my eyes. I put Bite Beauty Agave+ Nighttime Vegan Lip Therapy on my lips.

What I Like:

Texture: I like the texture of Algenist GENIUS Liquid Collagen.  It has a thicker texture than a liquid serum so it doesn’t drip which makes it easier to apply and target more generously in the areas of my concern, such as my forehead and neck.

Vegan: I like that Algenist GENIUS Liquid Collagen is vegan. While I am not a vegan, I appreciate an animal-free collagen product, and like this product uses ingredients from plant-based sources.

Value: Like I said previously, I love that this product has a value size. I am seeing plumper and firmer skin, so paying $135 for the value size about every 6 months is definitely worth it to me.

What I don’t like

Fragrance: Algenist GENIUS Liquid Collagen is not fragrance-free. There is a floral fragrance. I usually don’t use products that have a fragrance, so although the fragrance isn’t overly strong, I do wish this beauty product was fragrance free.

Packaging: The product comes in an airtight container which I appreciate.  However, the applicator can be hard to use and sometimes causes me to waste product. There’s many complaints in the reviews about the same issue, and hopefully the Company revamps the packaging at some point. There is detailed instructions on how to use the dropper on Sephora.com.

Conclusion: Buy or Pass?
